Hugh is a Chartered Geologist and registered Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC) with a wide variety of professional experience gained over 35 years. He leads a multi-disciplinary team involved in the project management, investigation and assessment of contaminated sites (both land and groundwater) prior to acquisition, reclamation or redevelopment. This work includes: pre-acquisition due diligence investigation; implementation and interpretation of site investigation and preparations of Environmental Statements on sites affected by toxic chemical and landfill gas contamination, the design and validation of remediation projects. Hugh has prepared good practice guidance for the industry and co-authored R&D66 2008 [“The development of housing on contaminated land] as well as guidance on the assessment of landfill gas for CIRIA. Hugh has acted as an expert witness on several contaminated land cases, delivered training on and made many presentations to both technical and non-specialist audiences on contaminated land and is a guest lecturer on contaminated land at several universities.
